Breckenridge’s annual Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest for kids ages 8 to 13 is scheduled to begin with registration at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at the high school gym, 602 W. Second St. Elks Lodge No. 1480 will host the local competition.


The Bill Pearce era of the Breckenridge Buckaroos came to a close Friday, Dec. 26, when the long-time coach and trainer passed away at the age of 80.

For the second year, Terry McCoy has made a donation to the residents of Villa Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center in memory of his late wife, Lynn McCoy, who passed away last year less than two months before Christmas.


Effective today, Tuesday, Dec. 16, the City of Breckenridge has lifted the city-wide Boil Water Notice that was initially issued on Tuesday, Dec. 9, according to a notice issued shortly after noon today.


Bill Pearce, beloved father, coach, mentor, and lifelong educator, passed away on December 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by service, integrity, and an unwavering belief in young people.
